Moments to Live For
We all have moments. Moments to live. Moments to die. To get that big promotion and to have our hearts broken. As I sat with my daughters at an arena on Sunday watching a championship ringette game, we saw an overtime-winning goal being scored. There was cheering, hugging, and joy for many in that building.
At the same time, in a hospital room 6 hours away, my 65-year-old old Aunt Gail took her final breath on this Earth. She passed away at 1:15 p.m. And there was tremendous sorrow for her children and siblings who were there at the hospital.
Six weeks ago, my Aunt Gail would have never seen this coming. She was returning from her first-ever sisters' trip, just her and my Mom in Arizona. Days after they returned, she went to the emerg and as time went on, she learned she had stage 4 colon cancer. She had plans for treatment. But before that could even begin, last Tuesday, she received a call from her oncologist telling her treatment wasn't possible. Her liver was shutting down. She had days, maybe weeks to live. Five days later she died.
What moments has your life in store for you today? You don't know foresure. No one does. My Aunt would have never guessed her moments on this Earth would be coming to a close so soon. She wanted more moments with her precious children.
We do get to choose how we treat each other, even during times of stress, in our moments. We do have the option of telling loved ones how much they mean to us and holding them close. And we do get to choose to put ourselves out there and take risks to live our beautiful lives on this Earth. But, the rest of it is out of our control. So what are you waiting for...your beautiful life and all of its many moments are unfolding! Love you Aunt Gail....always and forever.xo
